Welcome to InKing Royalty’s June Blog Hop! Stampin’ Up!’s 2016 Annual Catalog introduced us to five new In Colors: Dapper Denim, Emerald Envy, Flirty Flamingo, Peekaboo Peach and Sweet Sugarplum. What a beautiful collection of versatile colors! Today’s Blog Hop is filled with inspiring projects that feature each artist’s favorite new In Color. After you read my post, I hope you’ll hop over to the next person on the list at the base of this post.
Since I used Butterfly Basics and Timeless Textures on my GDP40 card, I have been wanting to do a vintage collage type card using these two sets.
I did my collage piece using stamps from both sets (inks used were Sweet Sugarplum, in 1st and 2nd generations, Dapper Denim for the sentiment and the little three dimensional butterfly, and a bit of crumb cake 2nd generation over the sentiment).
All I had left to do was add Thick White baker’s twine (super easy to work with), and layer like crazy with card stock in Sweet Sugarplum and Whisper White.
Now wasn’t that easy and fun? Here is my finished card:

Here is the color challenge I worked on today:
Windy Ellard selected three colors that are easy to work with: Pool Party, Island Indigo, and Whisper White.
In addition to the challenge colors, I wanted to try out the new Copper embossing powder and thread.
I started with an Island Indigo square card base (41/4 inches square).
The 2nd layer is Whisper White, which I embossed in copper with an image from the Timeless Textures stamp set and the small flower from Butterfly Basics set. This created the look of a designer paper.
Next I layered Pool Party (I only had a scrap), Island Indigo, and a small piece of whisper White with my feature image into the bottom left hand corner of the card. This leaves a lot of the copper embossing out there to be seen!
The featured image has a sentiment from Pop of Paradise (stamped in Island Indigo), along with a copper embossed pineapple from the same set. I fussy cut and layered the pineapple and some of the new copper thread onto the image with one Stamping Dimensional. Here is my card:
Remember, the post office charges more to mail square envelopes. The neat thing about this card is that since it
is 4 1/4 inches square, it will fit into a standard A2 envelope for mailing! Yeah! No extra postage needed.

I find it difficult to make sympathy cards, but I did my best in honor of the friend who passed, and his family of people that I love. I suggest keeping a couple of simple sympathy cards made in advance. (both masculine and feminine) You can customize the card by writing a private note on the inside. Another tip is to make up several cards and leave a space on them to add the sentiment of your choice later.
This card was made with the Rose Wonder set. I water colored with Peekaboo Peach and Pear Pizzazz. Note how the colors change when mixed with water. The card stocks used were water color, whisper white and Basic Black.
One of our Grands is at the beach this week. Isn’t she cute?
